Description:
Help us kick off Week of Green by getting down in the dirt and planting trees and cleaning up our public land with Lynchburg's own Urban Forester! Come help us plant a riparian buffer along Ivy Creek in Peaks View Park. Riparian buffers not only help filter pollutants from upland runoff, they also help stabilize streambanks, shade and cool streams, and reduce the impacts of flooding. Dress to work outside – long pants and boots recommended. Bring your favorite work gloves and a water bottle, all other equipment will be provided. Tasks include, but are not limited to, planting trees, mulching, and cleaning up debris. All ages welcome, youth under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Please register for this event by 4/21.
